About us "RUMBULA"

FINIERA NOLIKTAVA (PLYWOOD WAREHOUSE) “RUMBULA”

In order to become even more accessible to customers, including those on the other side of the Daugava, in 2014, we opened a second store-warehouse in Rumbula, in the district known to everyone with its countless car and spare parts sales points, building material stores, warehouses and construction service companies. WOOD POINT’s “Finiera noliktava (Plywood Warehouse) “RUMBULA”” is located in an easily accessible place in Riga, 39 Vējstūru Street. It is a modern, spacious warehouse with a shop area and a diverse assortment that is equivalent to our “Finiera noliktava (Plywood Warehouse) “JŪRKALNES””.

Rumbula is a neighbourhood of the city of Riga in the suburb of Latgale. The name has a very ancient origin – it historically arose in connection with the Daugava rapids that were located in the Daugava between the present suburb of Latgale and the island of Dole. 13th century here was one of the three crossing points across the river in Riga. In the Middle Ages the territory of Rumbula was subordinated to Mazjumpravmuiža – a manor of Riga rural district. The Riga Cistercian women's monastery used to be here, and the manor was also called Blūmendāli (in German Blumenthal) or "valley of flowers".

The meadows of the Mazjumpravmuiža have been used for aircraft parking since the First World War. During the Bermontiade’s battles – in the autumn of 1919 – the newly formed Latvian Armed Forces used them for reconnaissance and bombing enemy positions. Until 1940, there was an airfield of the Aviation Regiment of the Latvian Army in Rumbula, but after the Second World War, the armed forces of the USSR established a military airfield in Rumbula, the task of which was to control the airspace over the Baltic. It is interesting that right in front of the WOOD POINT Plywood Warehouse there are hangars covered with greenery, where war planes were hidden in Soviet times so that they could not be seen from the air. In the sixties, a civil airport was also opened in Rumbula, which coexisted here with military aviation. The flights were made with modern IL-18 airplanes and Tu-134A jetliners. The Rumbula passenger airport was closed in 1974, but in 1979 the military airfield was also completely moved to Lielvārde. Currently, the largest part of the airport has been occupied by car dealerships for several decades, and the remaining part is mostly occupied by companies related to construction products and services. The vast territory allows for the construction of warehouses, production facilities and wholesale bases, gradually creating an industrial commerce micro-district.

WOOD POINT’s “Finiera noliktava (Plywood Warehouse) “RUMBULA”” belongs to the wide family of companies in the industry that develops and improves the territory of Rumbula. This means a cleaner environment, infrastructure, improved accessibility, promoting the further development of this part of the city of Riga in the long term, promoting a recognisable, modern technological environment. Our warehouse is easily accessible to the residents of Riga's large suburbs – Purvciems, Pļavnieki, Dārzciems, Ķengarags – and to the businessmen, builders and manufacturers located in these districts, as well as to everyone who is going towards Salaspils and Ogre or further locations in Latgale, part of Vidzeme and on the way back to Riga.

Welcome to the customer service hall of “Finiera noliktava (Plywood Warehouse) “RUMBULA””!
